Window 7 mobile.....with this the sleeping giant is back. Breaking all silence finally microsoft comes speaking. There are many features which shows that Microsoft has taken a radical approach to the phone.

Tiles:: The tile function of the screen replaces the icon displays seen on the iPhone and the Android with living breathing tiles. Just picking up the phone you can see what is going on in your world without opening any app. To add I may say that this is sometimes better than push notifications.

Hub Strategy:: The HUB concept works really well. You can have a music hub in the shape of the Zune app. But this app is not restricted to content I have uploaded to, or bought in Zune, but all the music content on my ‘phone. Take the hub strategy across to other content, like business documents and Office becomes the business hub. This strategy gives me the best of both worlds, I can use my preferred app or I can find it in the main hub. Smart.

Games:: So what so special. Consider full on XBOX action on your phone? The graphics look up to it and the game levels, credits and achievements will be recorded against your Live profile.

Though I feel that Window 7 from microsoft is still an amateur but then like all babies this will also grow. I hope this creates even stiffer competition in market

Apple, Orange, Ginger...... hmmmm there are many companies with their names that tickles my taste buds. And the latest to this is Android. So you will ask what so tasty about android,, ha ha its versions. Thech the following::

Version2.3 Gingerbread refined the user interface, improved the soft keyboard and copy/paste features, improved gaming performance, added SIP support (VoIP calls), and added support for Near Field Communication.

Version3.0 Honeycomb was a tablet-oriented[42][43][44] release which supports larger screen devices and introduces many new user interface features, and supports multi-core processors and hardware acceleration for graphics.The first device featuring this version, the Motorola Xoom tablet.

Version3.1 Honeycomb, released in May 2011, added support for extra input devices, USB host mode for transferring information directly from cameras and other devices, and the Google Movies and Books apps.

Version3.2 Honeycomb, released in July 2011, added optimization for a broader range of screen sizes, new "zoom-to-fill" screen compatibility mode, loading media files directly from SD card, and an extended screen support API. Huawei MediaPad is the first 7 inch tablet to use this version.

Version4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, announced on October 19, 2011, brought Honeycomb features to smartphones and added new features including facial recognition unlock, network data usage monitoring and control, unified social networking contacts, photography enhancements, offline email searching, app folders, and information sharing using NFC. Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest Android version that is available to phones. The source code of Android 4.0.1 was released on November 14, 2011.

O yes, technology is bending the rules again and I, I am lovin' it. Bendy phones sound like science fiction – but the far-out gadgets could be on sale in just a few months’ time.Can't really comment on who actually pioneered the same but nokia and samsung both are woking on it.

In nokia the new concept phone is part of an online display presented in conjunction with the "Design and the Elastic Mind" . Nokia unveiled a basic prototype of the Nokia Kinetic – a bendable smartphone – at Nokia World. Kinetic allowed users to bend the screen to control functions such as music and video.

Samsung shown off OLED screens which can be folded over. The company demonstrated ‘bendable’ AMOLED screens 4.5 inches across and just 0.3mm thick in January this year.

Technology grows exponentially, gone are the days when we just had simple mobile used for calling purpose. With growing needs we now have mobiles with different operating systems. A Mobile operating system or Mobile OS is the operating system that controls a mobile device. This is same as we have windows, dos, unix, mac etc operating systems for our computers. The increasing importance of mobile devices have triggered a stiff competition among technology giants like Microsoft, Apple and Nokia. There are other players like Symbian, Palm and Research In Motion that are playing well in the smart phone market.

Here the top 10 operating systems that are used in Smart Phones.

1. Android

Andriod from Google Inc is an Open Source, Linux-derived platform backed by Google, along with major hardware and software developers like Intel, HTC, ARM etc. Though is very new but very IN these days, it already has a cult following among programmers who are eager to develop apps for its flexible, Open Source, back end. Android promises to give developers access to every aspect of the phone’s operation, something that every programmer wants to explore.

2. Windows Mobile
Windows Mobile has a low barrier for third-party developers to enter and write new applications for the platform. It has been criticized for having a user interface which is not optimized for touch input by fingers, instead, it is more usable with a stylus. However, in the next major release of Windows Mobile, Windows Mobile 7, Microsoft intends to make a dramatic come-back in the industry and become a much more aggressive force in the mobile space than it has been before in the past.

3. Symbian OS

Symbian is the world’s most popular mobile operating system, accounting for over 50% of smartphone sales in the world. Symbian Software Limited was acquired by Nokia in 2008 to form a new independent non-profit organization called the Symbian Foundation with the objective of creating the Symbian platform as a royalty-free, open source software Mobile OS.

The Symbian Foundation completed the open source release of the source code on 4-Feb-2010, for the world’s most widely-used smartphone platform. The Symbian platform, which has been developed over more than 10 years and has shipped in more than 330 million devices around the world, is now completely open and the source code is available for free. Releasing the entire Symbian platform under the Eclipse Public License (EPL) will encourage new contributors and accelerate the pace of innovation.

4. RIM BlackBerry operating

RIM BlackBerry operating system is the second popular operating system designed for business. It is mainly focused on easy operation for business purpose.

5. iPhone OS

Derived from Mac OS, the iPhone OS installed on iPhone have trendy followers who are swept by the excellent quality of UI and the apps available.

6. Linux operating system

Linux is strongest in China where it is used by Motorola, and in Japan, used by DoCoMo. Linux operating system is used as a basis for a number of different platforms developed by several vendors like Android, LiMo, Maemo, Openmoko and Qt Extended.

7. Palm webOS

Palm webOS from Palm Inc. is Palm’s next generation operating system.

8. Bada

Samsung bada is a smartphone platform released in 2010. The word “bada” means “ocean” in Korean. Samsung Wave is the first bada-powered phone.

9. Maemo

Maemo is a software platform developed by Nokia. It is mainly targeted for smartphones and Internet Tablets. It is based on the Debian operating system and is mostly based on open source code. The OS has been developed by Maemo Devices within Nokia in collaboration with many open source projects such as the Linux kernel, Debian and GNOME.

10. Limo

LiMo is developed by LiMo Foundation. It uses the Linux as its operating system and has a modular architecture. It providers SDK using which application developers can write browser apps for WebKit.

Google: Evil or not

Its been always said over the last few year that this year is the year Google will start its first Evil year. The point is that Google’s shares are now crashing and its graph coming down. Na na don't panic guys.. its not that worse. Until now, Google was getting revenue fairly easily from their advertisement business and was spending without limits. Google’s reality is different today. They have share holders to satisfy and a board of greedy administrator looking for constant growth of the company. Google is already huge and by far dominating Internet advertising business. With their current situation, growing more can’t be done without a little bit of an evil touch. They have to flood you with ads a little more to show revenue growth and for that it means you’ll start having Google ads on cell phone when they fully gets in the business and shortly on YouTube. They are already scanning your Gmail account to show you relevant ads. Also, today Google acquired DoubleClick, another Internet advertising business. The deal wasn’t seen as a good thing for competitors as it would mean a total domination from Google, but it was concluded anyway. That’s the kind of thing you can expect in the next year: more controversial decisions by Google and a larger presence on the Internet which has to be accompanied by a little evil touch. The greedy administrators will expect constant revenue increase and Google will have to invade the Internet a little more each time. They are very creative and will do it in a very cleaver way I presume, but still, it’s a big corporation.

Google is still one of the most ethical company in the business, but I think their motto Don’t be Evil might loose significance over the next couple of years. This is mainly because Google is now a big corporation and a monster in internet advertising with a board of greedy administrators.

Google is an industry giant, google makes millions, google is topping everywhere and what not.
Google does not sell anything, everything you use from them is free and top of that they seem to be very active in the open source community.

Hmmmm,, seems a huge contradiction. Well life is like that only and we all love contradictions, Isn’t it. Actually last week I was sitting with some of my relatives and all the techies of my family were sharing their thought on GOOGLE and its power. Suddenly out of no where a question came from a teen “How does google make money?” After some silence I broke the ice and tried to make that teen understand how google makes money. This is the second (read the first part here) of the three part series of my quest towards making people a little more familiar with common mobile world related terms. I have tried to keep the language as simple as possible still incase any one needs any more clarification on any of the terms listed below or any other mobile term, feel free to contact me through this blog. What is 4G?
4G, an acronym for fourth-generation wireless, is a technology that will transform wireless communications in a completely new way. It is also known as beyond 3G," since it provides a comprehensive and secure IP (Internet Protocol) solution. Users will enjoy high quality streaming video and "anytime, anywhere" voice and data at a much higher speed than previous generations.

The use of G, standing for generation, in mobile technology covers the major advances of the past 20-30 years. 1G technology involved the first widely available mobile phones. 2G technology, which began in the early 1990s, switched to a digital format and introduced text messaging. 3G technology improved the efficiency of how data is carried, making it possible to carry enhanced information services such as websites in their original format.

What Is WiFi?

Wi-Fi, which stands for wireless fidelity, in a play on the older term Hi-Fi, is a wireless networking technology used across the globe.
A wireless network uses radio waves, just like cell phones, televisions and radios do. In fact, communication across a wireless network is a lot like two-way radio communication.

Here's what happens:

a) A computer's wireless adapter translates data into a radio signal and transmits it using an antenna.
b) A wireless router receives the signal and decodes it. The router sends the information to the Internet using a physical, wired Ethernet connection.

What Is Bluetooth?
Ah, a very neat and clean technology (and its almost free): Conceived initially by Ericsson, before being adopted by a myriad of other companies, Bluetooth is a standard for a small, cheap radio chip to be plugged into computers, printers, mobile phones, PDAs etc.

Bluetooth® is the name of a wireless technology standard for connecting devices, set to replace cables. It uses radio frequencies in the 2.45 GHz range to transmit information over short distances of generally 33 feet (10 meters) or less. By embedding a Bluetooth® chip and receiver into products, cables that would normally carry the signal can be eliminated.

What is Infrared?
The infrared technology works through the straight line connectivity which works by in sight feature. It means your infrared port should be must pointed towards the other phone you wish to connect. But in market demand Bluetooth is popular as it is coming in 10 to 100 meter ranges depend according to the prices. Bluetooth also have a quality to read out the memory card and trace the other memory card. Bluetooth have very higher range of transferring the data as compared to other devices. It is the fastest too. And Free!!!!!

The other day I went to buy a new mobile phone for my mother. Busy seeing the mobile didn't noticed a girl was standing besides me inquiring about the latest and the most swanky mobiles in the shop. Just then she said to the shop owner that she does not need a 3G bcoz she already have a 3.2 MP camera mobile. To my amaze I thought that world moving to 4G and above and there are people who don't know what 3G is? So, this post is for all those people who want to be familiar about 3G:

What is 3G: The high-speed access to voice and data technology is known as 3G service, as it is considered the third generation of cellular telecommunications technology. A 3G network is necessary for this service to function. It offers advancements on the 1G and 2G networks such as multimedia applications like video and broadband services.

Minimum speeds for a stationary user is 2 megabits per second. When in a moving vehicle, users get 348 kilobits per second. In ideal conditions, 3G service provides for download speeds of 14.4 megabits per second. Upload speeds range around 5.8 megabits per second

What is Required for Using 3G?:
The first thing you require is a device (e.g. a mobile phone) that is 3G compatible. This is where the name 3G phone comes from - a phone that has 3G functionality; nothing to do with the number of cameras or the memory it has. An example is the iPhone 3G.

3G phones commonly have two cameras since the technology allows the user to have video calls, for which a user-facing camera is required for capturing him/her.

Unlike with Wi-Fi which you can get for free in hotspots, you need to be subscribed to a service provider to get 3G network connectivity. We often call this kind of service a data plan or network plan.
Your device is connected to the 3G network through its SIM card (in the case of a mobile phone) or its 3G data card (which can be of different types: USB, PCMCIA etc.), which are both generally provided/sold by the service provider. Through that, you get connected to the Internet whenever you are within a 3G network. Even if you are not in one, you can still use 2G or 2.5G services provided by the service provider.

The most interesting & useful aspect of 3G wireless technology is its ability to unify existing cellular standards such as GSM, CDMA and TDMA.

Wake up all you,,, yes all you out there or we will be in a never ending sleeps.

Ignorance of people(no I am not talking about those so called illitrate people), I am talking about those people who call them educated yet they seem to be totally ignorant about these issues.

Issues on which our entire human race is dependant.... please read the following article and follow and make other follow:

Ways to Conserve

-Turn off the lights and fans when you leave the house to save electricity.

-Turn off your car when waiting in a carpool line. This decreases emissions and saves petrol.

-As your incandescent light bulbs burn out, replace them with fluorescent ones. Compact fluorescent bulbs use 75% less energy than incandescent ones. While they are more expensive, they last years longer.

-Turn off the water when you shave or brush your teeth. On this I would like to further add on and request all my office collegues(in fact in all offices) to turn off the water when they wash their face or give their hair a "TOM CRUISE" look. I feel real bad people inspite of this water crises use water in Office Toilets as if they are on a River Bank.

Please grow up put that running tap off. Also I have seen people using tissue papers as if its made out of nothing. Wake up all you,, that humble looking tissue paper has been the reason of many tree cuts. Use one paper towel when you wash your hands in the public restroom. Or better yet, let your hands air-dry.

I URGE all offices(private or public), cinema halls, auditoriums, train/bus stations, airports and all other public places to put a graphic NOTICE or WARNING sign boards showing what harm we are posing on environment(read environment as humans) by not using paper towels and water wisely.

This post is for my MOM and alike who always are confused about different mobile technologies. Those were the days back in 1980’s when the mobiles were big enough to break someones head to this era of smart phones that fits easily in palm; mobiles have come a long way.

But how many of us really know how this tiny little masterpiece can call someone across the world

The first generation (1G) of mobile communications was introduced in the late 1970s (I was not there then :) ; used for voice transfer. Then in 1990s, second generation (2G) systems came into existence and was further developed to 2.5G, which includes GSM, TDMA and CDMA. These were used for voice and data.

The next generation of mobile communications is 3G and this delivers data speeds from 384 kbps to 2 Mbps and over wireless interfaces such as GSM, TDMA and CDMA.

Jargon Bustor:
Frequency division multiple access (FDMA)
The first-generation analog mobile access method; FDMA uses separate frequencies for each call. For example if there are four stations, each will receive their own frequency. Thus there is no interference between them. This reduces interference, but limits the number of users.

Time division multiple access (TDMA)
TDMA allocates unique time slots to each user within each channel, thus allowing many users to access the radio frequency without anyone's interference. Each mobile conversation uses only a particular frequency slot of the time.

Code division multiple access (CDMA)
Commercially introduced in 1995 by Qualcomm, CDMA quickly became one of the world's fastest-growing wireless technologies. 3G CDMA networks provide more capacity for voice traffic, along with high-speed data capabilities, hence many cellular service providers are now building or upgrading to it.
CDMA is used in both 2G and 3G wireless technologies. Indian Cell operators like Reliance IndiaMobile, TATA Indicom, BSNL and MTNL's Garuda all use CDMA2000 technology and its variant CDMA1x.

Global system for mobile communications (GSM)
Developed on TDMA protocol in Europe, GSM is now the worldwide standard technology for mobile communications. The advantage of GSM is that it provides a high level of security, globally accepted technology standards and superior sound quality.
For any GSM phone to work, it requires a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), a card that contains your telephone account information. Thus, an Indian GSM phone can be used in USA and other countries too.

What is GPRS?GPRS, short for General Packet Radio Services, is an enhancement to GSM technology that integrates GSM and IP technology. GPRS offers an always-on, high speed connectivity to the Net. Thus you can check your email on the move and surf the Web at high speeds.

What is WAP?
In this hi-tech age, people on the move need any-time access to the Net. This is where WAP comes in. It provides Internet access to cell phones. It is an open standard for wireless protocols that is independent of the service providers. To display Web content, the cell phone must have a WAP browser. Nowadays, cell phones often come with WAP and GPRS technology.
WAP and GPRS also allows you to download games, send mail and even transfer your messages to your PC.

What is EDGE?
The new EDGE ((Enhanced Data GSM Environment) interface has been developed specifically to meet the bandwidth needs of 3G. Promoted by Ericsson, it offers high-speed data transfers over GSM networks with just a software upgrade to the handset. EDGE allows speeds up to 384 kbps.

Recently in the very sad event of Mumbai blast, there was a lot of buzz about VoIP technology being used by the terrirost to keep connected with there masterminds somewhere in PAK. A very sad event of seeing such a misuse of technology.

So What is VoIP: VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, which is phone sevice that uses broadband Internet connectivity to dial. Some VoIP services may only allow you to call other people using the same service, but others may allow you to call anyone who has a telephone number - including local, long distance, mobile, and international numbers. Also, while some VoIP services only work over your computer or a special VoIP phone, other services allow you to use a traditional phone connected to a VoIP adapter.

How it works: According to wikipedia, VoIP systems employ session control protocols to control the set-up and tear-down of calls as well as audio codecs which encode speech allowing transmission over an IP network as digital audio via an audio stream. To put in simpler manner, VoIP services convert your voice into a digital signal that travels over the Internet. If you are calling a regular phone number, the signal is converted to a regular telephone signal before it reaches the destination. VoIP can allow you to make a call directly from a computer, a special VoIP phone, or a traditional phone connected to a special adapter.

What you need: A broadband (high speed Internet) connection is required. This can be through a cable modem, or high speed services such as DSL or a local area network. A computer, adaptor, or specialized phone is required. Some VoIP services only work over your computer (with its software a a microphone) or a special VoIP phone (that plug directly into your broadband connection and operate largely like a traditional telephone), while other services allow you to use a traditional phone connected to a VoIP adapter.

2) Google Tracks Flight Status: Google also lets you track the status of any U.S. flight and many international flights. All you have to do is enter the flight number into the Google search box. For example, to find out the status of United Airlines flight 116, enter ua116.

3) Google Displays Weather Reports: It’s a pretty easy search; all you have to do is enter the keyword weather, followed by the location. You can enter the location as a city name, city plus state, or Zip code. For example, to view the weather forecast for Minneapolis, enter weather delhi. Google displays current weather conditions and a four-day forecast at the top of the search results page. And, while this is a good summary report, you may want to click through to the more detailed forecasts offered in the standard search results listings below the four-day forecast.

4) Google Tracks Packages: Airline flights aren’t the only things you can track with Google. Google also lets you track the status of package deliveries, from the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS. All you have to do is enter the package’s tracking number into the Google search box, and Google will display a link to the service’s tracking page for that package.

6) Google Knows Area Codes: It goes without saying that if Google knows phone numbers, it also knows area codes.

7) Google Has Movie Information: You can also use the standard Google search box to look up movie reviews and showtimes. All you have to do is enter the word movies followed by the name of the movie. For example, to find out when Casino Royale is showing in your neighborhood, enter movies casino royale.

8) Google Loves Music: Google knows the names of tens of thousands of popular performers; all you have to do is enter the performer’s name in the search box, and Google returns specific information about that performer.

To stay on the top, a leader has to innovate, and this is what Google is doing. Google has announced SearchWiki, a service giving search power to the user. A Google account holder will be able to customize his search by re-ranking results, adding new ones, commenting on the results, and even deleting existing ones. It's a good way to make the search results personalized since they are completely associated with a user's Google Account.

The SearchWiki springs into action after the search results for the queried term is displayed. A small icon appears beside the result link that enables the user to push the result up or down while the link beside it allows him/her to delete or restore the result.

Yes, lets probe the "MODU". Modu is a tiny modular phone that can be slipped into different device jackets like an MP3 player, GPS, bigger cell phone, car stereo, or digital camera. Modu is already launched in Russia, Italy, and Israel. Soon it will hit USA.

So Some Gyan about Modu: Modu is just like a SIM card. An expanded SIM card. About the size of an iPod Nano, it can place calls, send text messages, and hold contacts. Modu can be inserted into different device jackets, depending on the functionality needed. The camera jacket, for instance, can be paired with Modu to send pictures over the wireless network.
The concept of carrying a small module with basic communications capabilities, holding your personal data so all these other devices can change personality is attractive. Oh!! So you have the latest Dual Core Processor. Latest!!!! You said huh!! not any more. Tecnology is changing by leap and bounds every day. So donot let behind and meet Multi Core Processor. A processor with all cores on a single die is called a monolithic processor.

A dual core processor is a CPU with two separate cores on the same die, each with its own cache. It's the equivalent of getting two microprocessors in one. Dual-processor (DP) systems are those that contains two separate physical computer processors in the same chassis. In dual-processor systems, the two processors can either be located on the same motherboard or on separate boards. In a dual-core configuration, an integrated circuit (IC) contains two complete computer processors. Usually, the two identical processors are manufactured so they reside side-by-side on the same die, each with its own path to the system front-side bus. Both AMD and Intel's dual-core flagships are 64-bit.

To utilize a dual core processor, the operating system must be able to recognize multi-threading and the software must have simultaneous multi-threading technology (SMT) written into its code. Today Windows XP and hundreds of applications already support multithread technology, especially applications that are used for editing and creating music files, videos and graphics because types of programs need to perform operations in parallel. Adobe Photoshop is also an example of SMT-aware software. SMT is also used with multi-processor systems common to servers.

An attractive value of dual core processors is that they do not require a new motherboard, but can be used in existing boards that feature the correct socket. For the average user the difference in performance will be most noticeable in multi-tasking until more software is SMT aware. Servers running multiple dual core processors will see an appreciable increase in performance.

Reset Text Boxes in ASP.Net

Well a small tip on ASP.NET. Sometimes when creating some user input page we need to clear all the text boxes. One example of this can be a reset or cancel button.

Here is a way to do this, iterating through the ASP.Net TextBox controls in a form.
Just create a Reset type subroutine - in that routine, use the following code:
in C# - it would be:

I love Delhi - A brief

Well as promised and demanded here is the first post on Delhi.

Delhi sometimes referred to as Dilli (pyaar se) is the second largest metropolis of India, with a population of 17 million, and a federally-administered union territory officially known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT).

Located on the banks of river Yamuna in northern India, archaeological evidence suggest that Delhi has been continuously inhabited since at least 6th century BC.

History: O yes yes many of you (me also) do not like this subject,, but without history... no present, no future... so belive me,, it is intersting

Delhi has been built and re-built more than 5 times at different sites in and around Delhi but the correct reference is found in the Mahabharatha as the city of Pandavas, also called Indraprastha some 3000 years ago. Until the influx of outsiders, Delhi was home to the Hindu rulers somewhere during the 12th century. Muslim rule in India was established in 12th century after Mohammed Gauri defeated Prithviraj Chauhan. Following are some stages of Rule in Delhi:

1. Indraprastha: Indraprastha was formed in Delhi in 1000 B.C during Mahabharatha which is assumed to have been around the annex of Purana Quila. According to Mahabharatha, Pandavas named this region as Indraprastha which was known as Khandava-Prastha.

2. Maurya Capital: Our history reveals that Delhi was on the great national highway of the Mauryas that linked their capital Patliputra (now Patna in Bihar) with Taxila (Takshashila), now in Pakistan.

3. Delhi Sultanate: Delhi was acquired by Qutab-Ud-Din Aibak in 1193 which was followed by mighty Mughals from the year 1526 to 1857. Later on Khilji followers built their new capital at Siri, the second city of Delhi.

4. British Rule: In 1911, king Goerge visited India and it was during his tenure that Delhi became the new capital of India. Delhi saw some significant developments during this period in the form of buildings, infrastructure, parliamentary buildings and public offices. The interception of British rule in India also witnessed a new city being formed in the name of New Delhi or the Lutyens’ Delhi.

Geography: Delhi is now majorly divided in following four zones:

a) East Delhi: East Delhi is located on the eastern bank of Yamuna River and this part of the city is also called "Trans Yamuna". East Delhi is surrounded by some parts of U.P, which includes Noida and Ghaziabad. Noida and Ghaziabad regions are also included in the NCR (National Capital Region). Closeness from delhi is turning a huge benifit for these locations.

b) West Delhi: There are overall nine districts in Delhi. Some of the important and posh localities fall under West Delhi. Patel Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Pitampura, Rohini, Dwarka, Janakpuri and Rajauri Garden are the major localities of West Delhi. These areas is making rapid progress these days.

c) North Delhi: Yes, a real old flavour of delhi can only be enjoyed in North Delhi. North Delhi lies in the region of Old Delhi and has its own importance in the landscape of Delhi. North Delhi has the trace of some great monuments that Mughals left behind like Red Fort and Jama Masjid. Delhi’s old and popular markets are located in North Delhi. Places like Chandni Chowk, Kashmiri Gate and Darya Ganj are located in North Delhi. It happens to be one of the densely populated areas of urban Delhi. Civil Lines, Model Town and Ashok Vihar are among the posh localities of North Delhi.

d) South Delhi: South Delhi is a blend of both ancient and New Delhi. It is also said to be the most posh zone of delhi (luckily I am also in south delhi). South Delhi ranges from congested by lanes of villages like Munirka to swanky localities like Hauz khaz, Vasant Vihar, Greater Kailash, C R Park, Panchsheel Enclave, South Extension, Defence Colony, Friends Colony, Green Park etc.

Hi Readers, I believe that as a programmer we all are from the lazy lots. We always try n find the possible shortcuts for every thing we do. Well I seem no harm in this!! we just wanna make life simpler and faster.

I have been working on the Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2005 for the development of my projects. So I thought of bringing shortcuts of this beautiful and powerful IDE to you. Huh!!! ya ya I know there are plenty you will find on net guys so what new...Most people don't know this, but there are actually over 450 keyboard shortcuts in Visual Studio by default. But there is no easy way to find out all the keyboard shortcuts inside Visual Studio.

Dear all this time I will bring a small code snippet with which you can actually produce a HTML file that will contain all the short cuts.. So here it is for all power users:

Macro to generate Keyboard Shortcuts in HTML

1. Open the Visual Studio 2005 IDE
2. Go to Tools
3. select Macros, and then choose Macros IDE (or you can also user Alt+F11). This will launch the Macros IDE.
4. Now, expand the MyMacros project, MyMacros namespace and double-click on Module1.
5. Simply copy code below to the Macros IDE and run the macro
6. After running the macro, you will get HTML file with keyboard shortcuts of Visual Studio.
7. Open your HTML file at "c:\shortcuts\VS2005_Shortcuts.html"
8. Print the file and paster on your desk.. Enjoy!!!

Windows 7, (formerly codenamed Blackcomb and later Vienna) is the working name for the next major version of Microsoft Windows as the successor to Windows Vista. Microsoft has announced that it is "scoping Windows 7 development to a three-year timeframe". It is generally believed that the OS would ship in the 2010 timeframe.

Windows 7 will be coming in both client and server versions. The client versions available in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The server version of Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, is 64-bit only.

Features:
According to reports sent to TG Daily , the Milestone 1 build of Windows 7 adds support for systems using multiple heterogeneous graphics cards and a new version of Windows Media Center. New features in Milestone 1 also reportedly include Gadgets being integrated into Windows Explorer, a Gadget for Windows Media Center, the ability to visually pin and unpin items from the Start Menu and Recycle Bin, improved media features, the XPS Essentials Pack being integrated, and a multiline Calculator featuring Programmer and Statistics modes along with unit conversion.

Accelerators, ClearType Text Tuner, Display Color Calibration Wizard, Gadgets, Infrared, Recovery, Troubleshooting, Workspaces Center, Location and Other Sensors, Credential Manager , Biometric Devices, System Icons, Windows Solution Center, and Display (my god, a whole plethora of features)... all the above features have been added in Control Panel.

From where they get all these...

One can even store Internet Explorer settings on a Windows Live account. Whats more, updated versions of Paint and WordPad are also lined up. I am loving it...

People liked(fewer system crashes than Windows XP) and disliked (security no new application,no search on the desktop,there are too many editions of Windows Vista)......was not a big hit in the market. Attach / detatch a database

Note: The @physname is the physical path of your .mdf file.

Remarks:
The detached files remain and can be reattached using sp_attach_db or sp_attach_single_file_db. The files can also be moved to another server and attached.

Opening the New Frontier

The potential global impact of the space elevator is drawing comparisons to another great transportation achievement -- the U.S. transcontinental railroad. Completed in 1869 at Promontory, Utah, the transcontinental railroad linked the country's east and west coasts for the first time and sped the settlement of the American west. Cross-country travel was reduced from months to days. It also opened new markets and gave rise to whole new industries. By 1893, the United States had five transcontinental railroads.

The idea of a space elevator shares many of the same elements as the transcontinental railroad. A space elevator would create a permanent Earth-to-space connection that would never close. While it wouldn't make the trip to space faster, it would make trips to space more frequent and would open up space to a new era of development. Perhaps the biggest factor propelling the idea of a space elevator is that it would significantly lower the cost of putting cargo into space. Although slower than the chemically propelled space shuttle, the lifters reduce launch costs from $10,000 to $20,000 per pound, to approximately $400 per pound.

Current estimates put the cost of building a space elevator at $6 billion with legal and regulatory costs at $4 billion, according to Bradley Edwards, author of the "The Space Elevator, NIAC Phase II Final Report." (Edwards is also the Dr. Bradley Carl Edwards, President and Founder of Carbon Designs.) By comparison, the cost of the space shuttle program was predicted in 1971 to be $5.2 billion, but ended up costing $19.5 billion. Additionally, each space shuttle flight costs $500 million, which is more than 50 times more than original estimates.

The space elevator could replace the space shuttle as the main space vehicle, and be used for satellite deployment, defense, tourism and further exploration. To the latter point, a spacecraft would climb the ribbon of the elevator and then would launch toward its main target once in space. This type of launch would require less fuel than would normally be needed to break out of Earth's atmosphere. Some designers also believe that space elevators could be built on other planets, including Mars.

NASA funded Dr. Edwards' research for three years. In 2005, however, it only awarded $28 million dollars to companies researching the space elevator. Although it's still very interested in the project, for now it would prefer to sit back and wait for more concrete developments.

Avoiding Space Debris
Like the space station or space shuttle, the space elevator will need the ability to avoid orbital objects, like debris and satellites. The anchor platform will employ active avoidance to protect the space elevator from such objects. Currently, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) tracks objects larger than 10 cm (3.9 inches). Protecting the space elevator would require an orbital debris tracking system that could detect objects approximately 1 cm (.39 inches) in size. This technology is currently in development for other space projects.

"Our plans are to anchor the ribbon to a mobile platform in the ocean," said Tom Nugent, of LiftPort. "You can actually move your anchor around to pull the ribbon out of the way of satellites."

Repelling Attacks
The isolated location of the space elevator will be the biggest factor in lowering the risk of terrorist attack. For instance, the first anchor will be located in the equatorial Pacific, 404 miles (650 km) from any air or shipping lanes, according to LiftPort. Only a small portion of the space elevator will be within reach of any attack, which is anything 9.3 miles (15 km) or below. Further, the space elevator will be a valuable global resource and will likely be protected by the U.S. and other foreign military forces.

How Space Elevators Will Work Riding to the Top
While the ribbon is still a conceptual component, all of the other pieces of the space elevator can be constructed using known technology, including the robotic lifter, anchor station and power-beaming system. By the time the ribbon is constructed, the other components will be nearly ready for a launch sometime around 2018.

Lifter
The robotic lifter will use the ribbon to guide its ascent into space. Traction-tread rollers on the lifter would clamp on to the ribbon and pull the ribbon through, enabling the lifter to climb up the elevator.

Anchor Station
The space elevator will originate from a mobile platform in the equatorial Pacific, which will anchor the ribbon to Earth.

Counterweight
At the top of the ribbon, there will be a heavy counterweight. Early plans for the space elevator involved capturing an asteroid and using it as a counterweight. However, more recent plans like those of LiftPort and the Institute for Scientific Research (ISR) include the use of a man-made counterweight. In fact, the counterweight might be assembled from equipment used to build the ribbon including the spacecraft that is used to launch it.

Power Beam
The lifter will be powered by a free-electron laser system located on or near the anchor station. The laser will beam 2.4 megawatts of energy to photovoltaic cells, perhaps made of Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) attached to the lifter, which will then convert that energy to electricity to be used by conventional, niobium-magnet DC electric motors, according to the ISR.

Once operational, lifters could be climbing the space elevator nearly every day. The lifters will vary in size from five tons, at first, to 20 tons. The 20-ton lifter will be able to carry as much as 13 tons of payload and have 900 cubic meters of space. Lifters would carry cargo ranging from satellites to solar-powered panels and eventually humans up the ribbon at a speed of about 118 miles per hour (190 km/hour).

When the Space Shuttle Columbia lifted off on April 12, 1981, from Kennedy Space Center, Fla., to begin the first space shuttle mission, the dream of a reusable spacecraft was realized. Since then, NASA has launched more than 100 missions, but the price tag of space missions has changed little. Whether it is the space shuttle or the non-reusable Russian spacecraft, the cost of a launch is approximately $10,000 per pound ($22,000 per kg).

A new space transportation system being developed could make travel to Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) a daily event and transform the global economy.

A space elevator made of a carbon nanotubes composite ribbon anchored to an offshore sea platform would stretch to a small counterweight approximately 62,000 miles (100,000 km) into space. Mechanical lifters attached to the ribbon would then climb the ribbon, carrying cargo and humans into space, at a price of only about $100 to $400 per pound ($220 to $880 per kg).
In this article, we'll take a look at how the idea of a space elevator is moving out of science fiction and into reality.
Ribbon in the Sky
To better understand the concept of a space elevator, think of the game tetherball in which a rope is attached at one end to a pole and at the other to a ball. In this analogy, the rope is the carbon nanotubes composite ribbon, the pole is the Earth and the ball is the counterweight. Now, imagine the ball is placed in perpetual spin around the pole, so fast that it keeps the rope taut. This is the general idea of the space elevator. The counterweight spins around the Earth, keeping the cable straight and allowing the robotic lifters to ride up and down the ribbon.

Under the design proposed by LiftPort, the space elevator would be approximately 62,000 miles (100,000 km) high. LiftPort is one of several companies developing plans for a space elevator or components of it. Teams from across the world are set to compete for the $400,000 first prize in the Space Elevator Games at the X Prize Cup in October 2006 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The centerpiece of the elevator will be the carbon nanotubes composite ribbon that is just a few centimeters wide and nearly as thin as a piece of paper. Carbon nanotubes, discovered in 1991, are what make scientists believe that the space elevator could be built. According to Dr. Bradley Edwards of the Spaceward Foundation, "Previously the material challenges were too great. But now we're getting close with the advances in creating carbon nanotubes and in building machines that can spin out the great lengths of material needed to create a ribbon that will stretch up into space"

Carbon nanotubes have the potential to be 100 times stronger than steel and are as flexible as plastic. The strength of carbon nanotubes comes from their unique structure, which resembles soccer balls. Once scientists are able to make fibers from carbon nanotubes, it will be possible to create threads that will form the ribbon for the space elevator. Previously available materials were either too weak or inflexible to form the ribbon and would have been easily broken.

"They have very high elastic modulus and their tensile strength is really high, and that all points to a material that, in theory, should make a space elevator relatively easy to build," said Tom Nugent, research director, LiftPort Group.

A ribbon could be built in two ways:

* Long carbon nanotubes -- several meters long or longer -- would be braided into a structure resembling a rope. As of 2005, the longest nanotubes are still only a few centimeters long.
* Shorter nanotubes could be placed in a polymer matrix. Current polymers do not bind well to carbon nanotubes, which results in the matrix being pulled away from the nanotubes when placed under tension.

Once a long ribbon of nanotubes is created, it would be wound into a spool that would be launched into orbit. When the spacecraft carrying the spool reaches a certain altitude, perhaps Low Earth Orbit, it would begin unspooling, lowering the ribbon back to Earth. At the same time, the spool would continue moving to a higher altitude. When the ribbon is lowered into Earth's atmosphere, it would be caught and then lowered and anchored to a mobile platform in the ocean.

The ribbon would serve as the tracks of a sort of railroad into space. Mechanical lifters would then be used to climb the ribbon to space.

Some more Gyan: A consortium of scientists and industrial firms has formulated a plan to build a 'space elevator' that would dramatically lower the cost of getting into orbit.

The Japan Space Elevator Association has published plans for the structure, which it estimates could be put in place for as little as $9bn.

The group believes that the project would revolutionise the cost of satellite communications systems, and make orbital manufacture economically feasible.

Mozilla fought back on Wednesday with some performance results to show a forthcoming version of Firefox outpacing Google's new Web browser, Chrome.

During a launch event Tuesday, Google was eager to toot its horn about Chrome's performance running JavaScript, a programming language used to power many sophisticated Web applications such as Google Docs, Yahoo's Zimbra e-mail site, and Zoho's online application suite. Google showed performance results using its own collection of five JavaScript benchmarks and V8, Chrome's JavaScript engine, but Mozilla countered with a different test called SunSpider.

SunSpider shows that the forthcoming Firefox 3.1, which uses a JavaScript acceleration technology called TraceMonkey, is faster than Chrome for JavaScript programs. It was 28% faster than Chrome on Windows XP and 16% faster on Vista.

Well how high man can go,,, people say "Sky is the limit". Well guys I think Japanese have taken this saying rather seriously.
After pocket pets, robot dogs and an assortment of other crazy inventions, a collection of Japanese mad scientists have now decided that it's time to reach for the stars--literally. The idea is simple enough build a 36,000 km elevator that goes right up to a stationary satellite in space. Once completed, the cost of getting to space ought to be at least 100 times less than blasting away in a space shuttle, which will, in turn, make space accessible to more of us. "Just like travelling abroad, anyone will be able to ride the elevator into space," says Shuichi Ono, chairman of the Japan Space Elevator Association.

The best part about the elevator is that in doesn't bend current laws of physics--the only challenges facing the project are those of infrastructure. It'll need stronger cable than any ever used, structural integrity like we've never seen before, and materials that haven't been created yet. The cables will be made of carbon nanotube fibers, which are about 180 times as strong as steel, and can be made stronger with some research.

Japan will host a conference in November, where a concrete plan will be formed. We're still waiting for someone to jump out and say that it's all a joke, but it doesn't seem likely.

Japanese scientists are so hyped up on the possibilities of building a real life space elevator that in just two months' time the country is playing host to a conference designed to set a production timetable. Carbon nanotube technology has advanced so rapidly that a material capable of withstanding the amazing forces in the space elevator cable is almost within reach: according to the chairman of the Japan Space Elevator Association it'd only need to be four times stronger than the current strongest nanotube rope.

What happened:Geneva (Switzerland) – CERN reported the second major hiccup in getting its Large Hadron Collider(LHC) up to speed. A “large” helium leak, likely caused by a faulty electrical connection between two magnets, was detected on Friday. The repairs require the LHC to warm up, which means that the entire system will be offline for at least two months.

The startup of the LHC isn’t going as smoothly as initially indicated. CERN said that an “incident” occurred in LHC’s final sector (34) at mid-day on Friday, causing helium to leak into the tunnel. The organization believes that the leak was likely caused by “a faulty electrical connection between two magnets, which probably melted at high current leading to mechanical failure.”

To repair the connection, the magnets will have to be warmed up from their superconducting temperature of -450 degrees Fahrenheit (-268.5 degrees Celsius or 4.5 Kelvin). Warming up, repairing the error and cooling the system back down will take at least two months, CERN said. In a normally conducting system, the error could be repaired within a few days, according to CERN officials.

Liquid helium is used as a primary layer of cooling to create superconducting magnets. A failing cooling mechanism, which includes helium leaks, will result in magnets losing their superconducting ability and will result in an off-track particle beam that is likely to hit the beam pipe during operation. Such an event, described as “quench”, can cause substantial damage: A particle beam travelling at just below the speed of light and carrying an energy level of 5 tera-electron-volt would be strong enough to burn through several feet of steel in a matter of a few nanoseconds.

Last Thursday, a 30-ton transformer used to power cooling stations for portions of the Large Hadron Collider's (LHC) gigantic superconducting magnets failed. On Friday, CERN said that the transformer had been replaced and testing resumed on Friday. Several hundred extremely large transformers are used to convert some of the incoming 45 Megawatts of power down to voltages that can be used by the LHC equipment.

Well, this is a javascript function that most of the web programmers must have come across, but still we overlook it. Although this function is very powerful. So lets digg into this function and make our life simpler.

First some Gyan about eval: The JavaScript EVAL command can be very powerful when using dynamic content in Web-based applications. EVAL can reduce code and eases interaction with data that is unknown at load time. As EVAL allows you to dynamically create and execute JavaScript, you can use it to reduce the number of lines of code you need to use; you can also use it to create JavaScript to perform activities that would be significantly more difficult without using the command. In many cases, you can move this functionality out of a single page and convert it into a generic function that you can reuse thanks to the EVAL function.

eval, evaluates and/or executes a string of JavaScript code that is contained in the codestring argument.

First, eval determines if the argument is a valid string and then parses the string looking for JavaScript code. If there are JavaScript statements in the code, they will be executed and eval will return the value of the last statement (if there is a value). If there is a JavaScript expression, it will be evaluated and its value will be returned.
Note that the codestring argument is optional. However, if there is no argument, eval returned, "undefined".

As you can see, you have reduced the size of the code required to check the eight fields from 32 to 10 with no loss of functionality, but with a savings of about 70 percent in terms the of number of lines required. Utilizing the EVAL command has also produced a much more user friendly, maintainable and concise code than the traditional approach.

The real power of EVAL
The real power of this command is its ability to work with data that is not known at load time—for example, user-entered data. As I have mentioned, EVAL takes any string that you provide and executes it returning a result, if one is applicable. Lossy and Lossless Compression - Part 4 (a four part series)

The type of compression we've been discussing here is called lossless compression, because it lets you recreate the original file exactly. All lossless compression is based on the idea of breaking a file into a "smaller" form for transmission or storage and then putting it back together on the other end so it can be used again.
Lossy compression works very differently. These programs simply eliminate "unnecessary" bits of information, tailoring the file so that it is smaller. This type of compression is used a lot for reducing the file size of bitmap pictures, which tend to be fairly bulky. To see how this works, let's consider how your computer might compress a scanned photograph.
A lossless compression program can't do much with this type of file. While large parts of the picture may look the same -- the whole sky is blue, for example -- most of the individual pixels are a little bit different. To make this picture smaller without compromising the resolution, you have to change the color value for certain pixels. If the picture had a lot of blue sky, the program would pick one color of blue that could be used for every pixel. Then, the program rewrites the file so that the value for every sky pixel refers back to this information. If the compression scheme works well, you won't notice the change, but the file size will be significantly reduced.
Of course, with lossy compression, you can't get the original file back after it has been compressed. You're stuck with the compression program's reinterpretation of the original. For this reason, you can't use this sort of compression for anything that needs to be reproduced exactly, including software applications, databases and presidential inauguration speeches

Do you miss the speed of your PC when it was new? How about when the Operating System was freshly installed? PCs tend to slow down after installing drivers, softwares, and applications, and as they age. This article will guide you on how simple things can boost your PC.

Step 1:

Remove uwanted running programs

For Windows users, you may check your Task Manager by holding CTRL + ALT + DEL and look at the programs running. Most of the process names are self-explanatory so you'll be able to know what specific application uses it. If the process name is somewhat unclear, you may research the process name at your favorite search engine and it will gladly return application that uses it in its result page.

Step 2:

Protect/cure your PCs from spyware/viruses/worms/etc.

If you think that your PC is virus/spyware/worm/trojan-free, it is still better to protect your PCs with programs that attack on malicious softwares. There are a lot of these free programs. AVG, Ad-Aware, to name a few.

If during your querying for answers, your search engine told you that the process is a virus, worm, malware, etc., you may opt to get an anti-virus/worm/malware program.

Step 3:

Free disk space

You may do this by:

Freeing your cache/temporary internet files.
Emptying your recyle bin.
Removing temporary installation files.

There are also lots of free third-party applications that can do these all for you. An example of this application is CleanUp.

Step 4:

Clean your registry

The registry is a bit fragile. You may instead install CCleaner to remove unnecessary entries in your registry. Of course, there are other registry cleaners available.

Step 5:

Choose your startup programs

Check only programs you prefer in the StartUp tab of your MsConfiguration Utility. You may do this by clicking Star, then click Run. In the input box put msconfig. Search for the StartUp tab. From there, you may then select the programs you prefer to start automatically when your PC starts.

Searching for Patterns

In our previous example, I posted out all the repeated words and put those in a dictionary. To us, this is the most obvious way to write a dictionary. But a compression program sees it quite differently: It doesn't have any concept of separate words -- it only looks for patterns. And in order to reduce the file size as much as possible, it carefully selects which patterns to include in the dictionary.So lets take a round on this

If we approach the phrase from this perspective, we end up with a completely different dictionary.

If the compression program scanned Kennedy's phrase, the first redundancy it would come across would be only a couple of letters long. In "ask not what your," there is a repeated pattern of the letter "t" followed by a space -- in "not" and "what." If the compression program wrote this to the dictionary, it could write a "1" every time a "t" were followed by a space. But in this short phrase, this pattern doesn't occur enough to make it a worthwhile entry, so the program would eventually overwrite it.

The next thing the program might notice is "ou," which appears in both "your" and "country." If this were a longer document, writing this pattern to the dictionary could save a lot of space -- "ou" is a fairly common combination in the English language. But as the compression program worked through this sentence, it would quickly discover a better choice for a dictionary entry: Not only is "ou" repeated, but the entire words "your" and "country" are both repeated, and they are actually repeated together, as the phrase "your country." In this case, the program would overwrite the dictionary entry for "ou" with the entry for "your country."

The phrase "can do for" is also repeated, one time followed by "your" and one time followed by "you," giving us a repeated pattern of "can do for you." This lets us write 15 characters (including spaces) with one number value, while "your country" only lets us write 13 characters (with spaces) with one number value, so the program would overwrite the "your country" entry as just "r country," and then write a separate entry for "can do for you." The program proceeds in this way, picking up all repeated bits of information and then calculating which patterns it should write to the dictionary. This ability to rewrite the dictionary is the "adaptive" part of LZ adaptive dictionary-based algorithm. The way a program actually does this is fairly complicated, as you can see by the discussions on Data-Compression.com.

No matter what specific method you use, this in-depth searching system lets you compress the file much more efficiently than you could by just picking out words. Using the patterns we picked out above, and adding "__" for spaces, we come up with this larger dictionary:

And this smaller sentence:

The sentence now takes up 18 units of memory, and our dictionary takes up 41 units. So we've compressed the total file size from 79 units to 59 units! This is just one way of compressing the phrase, and not necessarily the most efficient one. (See if you can find a better way!)

So how good is this system? The file-reduction ratio depends on a number of factors, including file type, file size and compression scheme.

In most languages of the world, certain letters and words often appear together in the same pattern. Because of this high rate of redundancy, text files compress very well. A reduction of 50 percent or more is typical for a good-sized text file. Most programming languages are also very redundant because they use a relatively small collection of commands, which frequently go together in a set pattern. Files that include a lot of unique information, such as graphics or MP3 files, cannot be compressed much with this system because they don't repeat many patterns (more on this in the next section).

If a file has a lot of repeated patterns, the rate of reduction typically increases with file size. You can see this just by looking at our example -- if we had more of Kennedy's speech, we would be able to refer to the patterns in our dictionary more often, and so get more out of each entry's file space. Also, more pervasive patterns might emerge in the longer work, allowing us to create a more efficient dictionary.

This efficiency also depends on the specific algorithm used by the compression program. Some programs are particularly suited to picking up patterns in certain types of files, and so may compress them more succinctly. Others have dictionaries within dictionaries, which might compress efficiently for larger files but not for smaller ones. While all compression programs of this sort work with the same basic idea, there is actually a good deal of variation in the manner of execution. Programmers are always trying to build a better system.

Redundancy and Algorithms

Most compression programs use a variation of the LZ adaptive dictionary-based algorithm to shrink files. "LZ" refers to Lempel and Ziv, the algorithm's creators, and "dictionary" refers to the method of cataloging pieces of data.

The system for arranging dictionaries varies, but it could be as simple as a numbered list. When we go through Kennedy's famous words, we pick out the words that are repeated and put them into the numbered index. Then, we simply write the number instead of writing out the whole word.

So, if this is our dictionary:

Our sentence now reads:

"1 not 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 -- 1 2 8 5 6 7 3 4"

If you knew the system, you could easily reconstruct the original phrase using only this dictionary and number pattern. This is what the expansion program on your computer does when it expands a downloaded file. You might also have encountered compressed files that open themselves up. To create this sort of file, the programmer includes a simple expansion program with the compressed file. It automatically reconstructs the original file once it's downloaded.

But how much space have we actually saved with this system? "1 not 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 -- 1 2 8 5 6 7 3 4" is certainly shorter than "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country;" but keep in mind that we need to save the dictionary itself along with the file.

In an actual compression scheme, figuring out the various file requirements would be fairly complicated; but for our purposes, let's go back to the idea that every character and every space takes up one unit of memory. We already saw that the full phrase takes up 79 units. Our compressed sentence (including spaces) takes up 37 units, and the dictionary (words and numbers) also takes up 37 units. This gives us a file size of 74, so we haven't reduced the file size by very much.

But this is only one sentence! You can imagine that if the compression program worked through the rest of Kennedy's speech, it would find these words and others repeated many more times. And, as we'll see in the next section, it would also be rewriting the dictionary to get the most efficient organization possible.

How File Compression Works - Part 1 (a four part series)

If you download many programs and files off the Internet, you've probably encountered ZIP files before. This compression system is a very handy invention, especially for Web users, because it lets you reduce the overall number of bits and bytes in a file so it can be transmitted faster over slower Internet connections, or take up less space on a disk. Once you download the file, your computer uses a program such as WinZip or Stuffit to expand the file back to its original size. If everything works correctly, the expanded file is identical to the original file before it was compressed.

At first glance, this seems very mysterious. How can you reduce the number of bits and bytes and then add those exact bits and bytes back later? As it turns out, the basic idea behind the process is fairly straightforward. In this article, we'll examine this simple method as we take a very small file through the basic process of compression.

Most types of computer files are fairly redundant -- they have the same information listed over and over again. File-compression programs simply get rid of the redundancy. Instead of listing a piece of information over and over again, a file-compression program lists that information once and then refers back to it whenever it appears in the original program.

As an example, let's look at a type of information we're all familiar with: words.

In John F. Kennedy's 1961 inaugural address, he delivered this famous line:

"Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country."

The quote has 17 words, made up of 61 letters, 16 spaces, one dash and one period. If each letter, space or punctuation mark takes up one unit of memory, we get a total file size of 79 units. To get the file size down, we need to look for redundancies.

Immediately, we notice that:

"ask" appears two times
"what" appears two times
"your" appears two times
"country" appears two times
"can" appears two times
"do" appears two times
"for" appears two times
"you" appears two times

Ignoring the difference between capital and lower-case letters, roughly half of the phrase is redundant. Nine words -- ask, not, what, your, country, can, do, for, you -- give us almost everything we need for the entire quote. To construct the second half of the phrase, we just point to the words in the first half and fill in the spaces and punctuation.

How To Use Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables

Pivot Table is a summary table of your original spreadsheet. Based on your field selections and how the data should be displayed, a pivot table can aggregate and show a different view of your data. All your comments, suggestions and corrections are welcome on this articles. Feel free to add on this article and help me and others learn more of this powerful tool. This is specially for my wife.
For example, create a pivot table for Canada and USA sales report per quarter and year.
Create a Table as data source (see the screenshot below)
Create a PivotTable.
• Click the first left data, in A1 cell, Year field (see black-rectangle in the screenshot above).
• Click Data menu, select PivotTable and PivotChart Report submenu.
In PivotTable and PivotChart Wizard window, "Where is the data that you want to analyze?", click Microsoft Office Excel list or database option (see yellow-rectangle in the screenshot above).
"What kind of report do you want to create?", click PivotTable option (see blue-rectangle in the screenshot above) then click Next button (see red-rectangle in the screenshot above).
"Where is the data that you want to analyze?" $A$1:$F$12 (the ranges data is automatically appear), click Next.
"Where do you want to put the PivotTable report?", click New Worksheet option, then click Finish button.
In PivotTable Field List window, select the fields then put them as you need on the Pivot Table area. For example:
Click Year field (see red-rectangle in the screenshot below), select Row Area (see blue rectangle in the screenshot below), click Add To button (see pink rectangle in the screenshot below).
Click Quarter field, select Row Area, click Add To button.
Click Employee field, select Row Area, click Add To button.
Click Customer field, select Column Area, click Add To button.
Click Country field, select Page Area, click Add To button.
Click Sales field, select Data Area, click Add To button then see the Pivot Table in the screenshot.
To change the view report, for example, you want to move the Customer field into the row area. Just click Customer field (see red-rectangle in the screenshot below), select Row Area (see blue- rectangle in the screenshot below), click Add To button (see pink-rectangle in the screenshot below).
If the Pivot Table Field List window doesn’t show up, right click on the pivot table area (see red-rectangle in the screenshot below), then click Show Field list (see blue-rectangle in the screenshot below).
To see the Pivot Table Report based on the country, click arrow of the country (see the red-rectangle in the screenshot below). For example, select USA, click OK.
Create a PivotTable Format Report.
Click Format Report icon (see red rectangle in the screenshot below).
In AutoFormat window, for example, click Table 1 (see yellow-rectangle in the screenshot below).
For example, say you want to change total sales to average sales. Right click on the Sales field (see red-rectangle in the screenshot below), select Field Settings.
In PivotTable Field window, Summarize by section, select Average and click OK.
Create a PivotChart Report.
Click Chart Wizard icon (see blue-rectangle in the step 5 screenshot).
To change the chart type, click Chart Type icon (see red-rectangle in the screenshot below).
To add, edit and delete data source:
In F3 and F4 cells, change the sales data to 500 (see red-rectangle in the screenshot below).
Right click on the eighth row (see blue-rectangle in the screenshot below), select Delete (see pink-rectangle in the screenshot).
To add a new data source, you have to add in the range data that has been determined before $A$1:$F$12 (see Step 2). Don’t add out of range, Pivot Table can't refresh it. For example, right click on the sixth Row, select Insert then type as follows:
After modified, don’t forget to refresh data in Pivot Table:
Click the Pivot Table sheet, for example, sheet2 (see pink-rectangle in the screenshot below).
Right click on the Pivot Table area (see yellow-rectangle in the screenshot below), select Refresh Data (see blue-rectangle in the screenshot below).
See the data has been changed (see red-rectangle in the screenshot). The eighth row data in table has been deleted, and a new data has been added (see brown-rectangle in the screenshot below).

Delhi Blasts

This is enuff, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Now Its the capital of India Delhi.
A series of Six explosions rocked Delhi, One after other Bombs rocked delhi … The first explosion was reported at Karol Bagh (Gaffar Market). Second blast was reported in Central Park of Connaught Place near The famous Pallika Bazaar Market followed by a third blast in GK’s M-Block market and two blasts at Barakhamba Road and Just got a report about one more blast at New Delhi Railway Station.
Nearly 100 peoples are reported to be injured and around 50 are reported to be seriously injured. First blast at Karol Bagh was reported to be placed in an Auto-Rickshaw and second blast was followed by a blast in the cylinder kept on a scooter right behind the Auto Rickshaw.
The Blast was so strong that it was reported that the auto rickshaw was jumped around 12 feet up in the air after the blast.
The twin blasts on Barkhamba Road went off near the Metro Station. The first blast took place at 6:20 pm.
All the affected sites have been cordoned off and All the traffic is now diverted so if it is recommended to change your driving route.
If u have some additional info about the blast let me know !! I will update you guys with more news as soon as I will get some more additional news about the Blasts. Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh as well all Metros have been put on maximum alert.

Surface uses cameras to sense objects, hand gestures and touch. This user input is then processed and displayed on the surface using rear projection. Specifically:

Surface uses a rear projection system which displays an image onto the underside of a thin diffuser which is the table's surface. Infrared light is also projected onto the underside of the diffuser.

The biceps are the prominent pair of muscles on the front of the upper arm connecting the shoulder to the elbow - and are used in everything from turning a key to lifting heavy boxes. Here is a simple exercise to build or define your biceps.

Step1

Grasp a dumbbell in each hand with a relaxed grip.

Step2

Choose a weight lighter than 15 pounds. If you're a beginner, start with 3- to 5-pound weights.

Step3

Stand with your back straight, knees slightly bent, abdominal muscles contracted. Your feet should be flat on the floor and shoulder width apart.

Step4

Hold the weights at your sides, keeping your arms relaxed and your palms facing inward.

Step5

Starting with your left side, turn your wrist so that your palm faces forward.

Step6

Slowly raise the weight by bending your elbow. Keep your back straight, your shoulder relaxed and your elbow close to your side.

Step7

Slowly raise the weight until your knuckles are 3 or 4 inches away from your left shoulder.

Step8

Concentrate on contracting the biceps. Hold this position for 1 to 2 seconds.

Step9

Slowly lower the weight back to its original position and turn your palm inward. Focus on squeezing the biceps.

Step10

Repeat the exercise on the right side.

Step11

The entire movement of each arm should last 5 seconds. Don't let the momentum do the lifting for you.

Step12

Keep your back straight and your shoulder steady while letting your biceps do the work.

Step13

Do one to three sets of eight to twelve repetitions for each arm.

Remembering September 11 attacks

The September 11 attacks (often referred to as 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners.^[1]^[2] The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the building, causing both buildings to collapse within two hours, destroying at least two nearby buildings and damaging others. Mumbai: India has made major scientific and technological contribution to the new atom smasher also called the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which went live on Wednesday at the experimental facility near Geneva in Switzerland. LHC is expected to answer several facts of fundamental nature of the universe that remains a mystery, said the scientists of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).

Indian laboratories, led by Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) at Indore, have contributed substantially towards construction of the accelerator (LHC) itself, with many components being fabricated by Indian industry and supplied to CERN.

Triumph! Smooth start for 'Big Bang' test

A flawless start to the "Big Bang" experiment that will re-enact the first moments of the universe was hailed as a triumph by British scientists involved in the project today.

At 9.30am the start-up team in Geneva announced they had achieved "first beam" at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the biggest and most complex scientific instrument ever built.

Protons - one of the building blocks of matter - were spun round the giant particle accelerator's 27 kilometre-long circular beam tunnel at just a fraction under the speed of light.

Getting the beam to circulate all the way round the 100 metre-deep underground tunnel was originally expected to take most of the day.

In fact the scientists also managed to send a beam in the opposite direction by about 2pm BST.

Later the particles will be made to smash into each other at energy levels up to seven times higher than any seen before.

Big Bang and Grid Computing

Scientists in Switzerland are building a machine to test the big-bang theory of how the universe began as u all would be aware of guys. But first they have to construct a computer network that can handle the volumes of data the device will produce.

The new, more powerful particle accelerator, known as the Large Hadron Collider, is being built at CERN, the same Swiss laboratory where Tim Berners-Lee developed the World Wide Web. With such a tool, scientists say that they will either be able to produce the same particles thought to have existed when the universe was formed, or they will have proved that such particles just don't exist.

But before they can test their theory, the scientists will need a computer network capable of processing and storing the massive amounts of data that will begin spewing from the collider once it starts smashing particles together in 2007. As a result, researchers at CERN created Openlab, a grid computing network designed to test the type of equipment that is likely to be standard by the middle to end of this decade when the project really gets under way.

In grid computing, large numbers of desktop PCs and modestly sized servers are linked across a network in a way that allows them to function as a single, virtual supercomputer.

"The hope is that we, together with partners, solve whatever bugs there are," said Francois Grey, development manager for the Openlab effort.

History of Nuclear Deal

New Delhi (PTI): The Indo-US Nuclear Deal has remained a contentious affair from the word go. The July 18, 2005 Joint Statement by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and US President George W Bush gave the world the first glimpse of a path-breaking deal that could end India's nuclear isolation.

Singh had hit it off well with the US leader and America was ready for the landmark deal that virtually gives de-facto nuclear weapons state status was the official line. But the Joint Statement itself saw Opposition parties as also the Left parties, then the outside supporters of the Congress-led coalition, raising serious doubts over the deal. In fact, former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee fired the first salvo raising questions.

The Left parties, which have ideological problems over strategic ties with the US, were also quick to react and questioned the government's decision. The intent to lift the four-decade-old nuclear emabargo and agreeing for the separation of civil and military nuclear facilities in India, set off a flurry of activities both here and in the US to clinch a "landmark" deal for Bush and Singh.

The US had agreed to change its domestic laws which banned supply of any nuclear fuel and technology to India and herald in a "unique" cooperation with New Delhi "not to be replicated to other countries." As officials of the two countries met to take the deal forward, opposition BJP and the Left parties kept up pressure on the government while in the US the Bush administration faced the heat from the non-proliferationists, who were of the the opinion that the agreement would make the NPT regime redundant.

In March, 2006 the Prime Minister announced the Separation Plan for civilian and military atomic reactors, which along with the July 18 joint statement formed the basis of the India-US civilian nuclear cooperation agreement. Government's actions on the foreign policy front, particularly its stand on Iran in the international fora, came up for close scrutiny on the domestic front and when India voted with the US on the issue of clamping sanctions on Tehran.

The Opposition and the Left parties accused the government of surrendering its right to conduct independent foreign policy in order to clinch the deal. India's endorsement of a Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) statement two years ago backing Iran's right to civil nuclear energy subject to its international obligations also drew criticism from the US. In the meantime on November 16, 2006 the US Congress passed the Henry J. Hyde United States-India Peaceful Atomic Energy Cooperation Act of 2006 which granted the US administration a waiver from Section 123 of the Atomic Energy Act to resume nuclear commerce with India.

References to Iran, nuclear testing in the Hyde Act triggered off yet another political storm here with BJP mounting attack on the government for "surrendering" the right to conduct nuclear tests in the future. The Left parties attacked the government for getting closer to "capitalist" US.

The next significant step was the clinching of the 123 Agreement by the US and Indian officials on July 27, 2007. A few weeks later, on August 13 Prime Minister Singh defended the accord and his governement in Parliament saying the country retained the strategic autonomy and sovereign right to conduct a nuclear test.

India has gained international approval for an expansion of its civilian nuclear industry in a deal that will earn billions of dollars for international energy companies but that critics say sets a dangerous precedent for the control of nuclear technology.

A US proposal to allow India to buy nuclear technology and equipment from other countries does not require India to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and has been approved by the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group. The agreement followed three days of debate in Vienna.

Critics of the one-off deal say it creates a dangerous precedent by allowing India to expand its civil nuclear power industry without adhering to any treaties that would interfere with its strategic weapons programme.

Opponents of the deal argue that it undermines arguments for isolating Iran over its nuclear programme and could be a blow for international nuclear non-proliferation efforts.

Under the terms of the deal, India is to separate its civilian and military reactors, placing 14 of its 22 nuclear facilities under international safeguards.

India's prime minister, Manmohan Singh, said the Vienna decision "marked the end of India's decades-long isolation from the nuclear mainstream and of the technology denial regime".

Future hybrid System

The new concept car coming from the automobile giant Peugeot Design Competition is surely a sophisticated design.
